A Intersection B = Null Set

Started his career as a radio commentator, which was his childhood dream, from their went on to do his MBA from IIM-A. Despite that high class degree from the prestigious institute, decided to spend his rest of life as a Cricket Commentator.

Yes guys you are correct. The one and only Harsha Bhogle.

Wondering as to what the Title as to do with message....wait and proceed!!

A friend of mind, I did schooling with him, secured 70% odd in "plus-two" had an ambition to join Indian Police. We use to call him Anbu Chezhlvan, IPS - later i have stolen the name from him.

With that average mark he joined gurunanak college, chennai for a graduate course. After finishing his graduation, he took efforts to satisfy his inner thrust for police - "but all went in vain" when he was rejected saying fitness reason. (He his a jumbo man - "dunno how rejected on silly reasons")

He applied for the selection committee next year too (the year I completed my CA Final - Nov 2007) but again nothing clicked for him......

But he didn't lose the hope even after working for a year in a Software Company as a Junior Staff earning a good money... He again applied for the selection committee in 2008 and this time all went in favour of him...He got into the rolls of Tamilnadu Police.

Salute to my friend Mr.Arul. Soon looking to see you as Commissioner of Police.

Friends, Life is all about exactly what Arul did. It is a great lesson for me and for some of you too. We all have a passion or inner drive for something, a childhood dream or a mediocre dream. Like some of us have a great passion towards music, dancing, fashion, painting, sports, multimedia and we too taste the apple initially by joining some course etc... but neverthless many of us take efforts to live with our dream.

Many of our decisions are influenced by one or the other, rarely we keep role model, because of that we invariantly select our career domain as Engineering, Medical or Chartered Accountancy..... forgetting about all our inner strength, our inner thrust.

Nothing surprised me, when i met 36 odd students of plus two, for sharing my knowledge for the CA entrance coaching with them, after hearing many of their replies to the question "What made them to join CA?" one jumbo replied me by saying "I want to become an IAS officer". I asked him to go and join BA History or Economics.

If Harsha Bhogle and Arul could do it....why not We?

If we all can recall the mathematics learned at standard tenth ....

If A = Areas of Interest one has... like dancing, singing, sports, writing

and If B= Areas of study one has choosen....like CA, Engineering, Medical

Then A Intersection B (A n B) = Null Set.

If not for all....For many of us.

Thanks to Arul, who called me this weekend to inform about his success, which shook my instinct by asking "Why i have failed to satisfy my inner thrust of becoming a Chemical Engineer?". Eyes will wave with tears even today when i go nearby Anna University Road.

I dedicate this blog to my GOOD friend who have a thrust to take a career in Interior designing but fighting with CA day and night. Best wishes ..will you be one of those Harsha or Arul?
